Bug #28566
closedYou Tube channels not supported by media element
0%
Description
The process_youtube function in sysext\cms\tslib\class.tslib_mediawizardcoreprovider.php does process channels but YouTube does not deliver any embedded channel swfs. So the generated url (which looks like this http://www.youtube.com/v/USERNAME?fs=1) will not work. This should be removed or fixed.

Felix, could you check if this is still a problem in 4.6 and if so, write down the exact steps to reproduce the problem (including expected and current behavior?)
Updated by Felix Nagel almost 13 years ago
My hoster just added PHP 5.3, so just give me a few days and I will update and test asap.
Steps to reproduce (when I remember right): Just use a channel URL (see above) instead a video URL -> No output

Ok, Ive updated to TYPO3 4.6.1 (which related files does have minimal changes compared to 4.5.6.) and everything works just like before.
http://www.youtube.com/user/CottonMadeInAfrica?feature=watch will produce a flash object (at least in FF8, Win7) which tries to load http://www.youtube.com/v/CottonMadeInAfrica?feature=watch?fs=1 which does not work as YouTube does not deliver needed files.
Steps to reproduce:
1) Add media element
2) Add video link ("Path or URL")
3) remove checked "Use player" checkbox
By the way:
http://youtu.be/zSrlFQnHg0o short video link, does not work (white flash screen in FF8, Win7), is this worth a new issue?

The youtu.be is solved in 4.7.
AFAIK Youtube channels are still not supported.

Also the link provided for the youtube channel doesn't show a video.
I don't think it's possible at all to get playlist just form sb's profile.

Hi,
as this issue is very old. Does the problem still exists within newer versions of TYPO3 CMS (6.1.7)?
