Big tt_news articles causes errors

Description
tt_news articles in the concept workspace ("Entwurfsumgebung") with more than 40.000 characters cause connection errors. First no records are shown in the list, then the connection errors appear.
After this both cores are completely used to capacity. I tested serveral max execution times, nothing changes.
The server is optimized for TYPO3 and should normally handle this.

Are you able to reproduce this on more than one machine (using the Introduction Package?)
Did you mean any other workspace then the live workspace?
I just tested to create a tt_news record with way more then 40000 chars using a blank introduction package. I had no problem saving the record. Would be great, if you could double check the issue using the introduction package.
I meant any other worspace than the live workspace.
But: If I use a new installation and the old database, i can reproduce it. But with a blank introduction package I cannot reproduce it...

What is the encoding of your database and it's version?
I guess the database fields are updated correctly (Install Tool > Database Analyzer > Compare)
The server uses MySQL 5.0.67
The table tt_news is set to MyISAM - InnoDB doesn't chance anything.
The site has about 20.000 articles and 6.000 categories with many relations.
The compare tool says everything is alright.
There are other workspace-related issues reported here about working with several thousand pages or tt_news-records. Could it be that the number of SQL-queries performed is the root of the problems you experience and not the size of an article? If you can, please try to perform an SQL-log. I expect you have a large/long-running query. Maybe because of the article-size the query grows that large that it swaps to temp-tables or so?
What is the state here? Still an issue? Can you, Alex, provide the log requested by Stefan?
