I think we can close that for now:

php7 triggered a couple of changes that also improved hhvm compability.

we dropped hhvm from travis a while ago (it was a very outdated version), and we're also not testing hhvm explicitly on bamboo at the moment.

currently, not too many people seem to be interested in hhvm anymore since php7 gave a major speed up already.

in case this topic comes up again, i'd suggest to do that with a fresh issue, which should probably start with adding hhvm to test infrastructure again. core team itself seems to be not that heavily interested in this topic, though.
