For ImageMagick the parameter "-interlace" needs to be passed to "convert". One possible addition would be to also use "-strip" since that will remove "profiles and comments".

How do we want to implement it? Additional setting (unchecked by default) in the GFX-options in installtool?

Or how about we string-settings for "convert-options" (and possibly combine-options etc. as well) for IM/GM so users could add whatever params they'd like to use? We could hint to -interlace and -strip in the helptext in installtool.

As a rough overview: convert is called in these places, which would need to get the additional parameter(s) passed.

+1 but Target version should also be 6.2.x

It's a new feature, so can't go into older releases. Especially not 6.2 since it's not really a "priority bugfix".
