Re-ordering of long content elements not possible with drag-n-drop
Added by Jan Kornblum over 11 years ago.

Backend User Interface
Description
It is not possible to re-order / sort content elements in the backend (web -> page) using drag-n-drop as soon as a content elements height is larger than the browser window (and a second content element, where the first ce should be moved after, is outside the viewport).
Besides making the browser scrolling / following the drag-operation even outside the viewport / frame dimensions, it would be a good addition to get the old "up/down" buttons back, just as a second possibility if dragdrop fails ;)
Can confirm this behaviour for TYPO3 CMS 6.1.1 on Chrome 27 Mac

next-patchlevel)

I'd rather make the current element (and maybe also all other elements) collapse to only the headline when starting a drag operation. The sort buttons are kind of anachronistic.
Maybe we can also have a condensed view where the content preview is completely left out.
+1 to collapsing to elements to the headers
but we really need autoscroll if we approach the top or bottom of the screen. We even might need this for approaching the sides.
Collapsing elements allone won't be enough because when a page contains lots (!) of elements, you still won't be able to put any item at the bottom without an autoscroll feature.

We fixed this (finally) with version 7!
