Hm, perhaps "feature request" (?). You can of course change it, if this would fit better.

Anyway, about the issue:
In a single language Typo3 install with indexed search and realurl adding the language parameter will lead to "random" domain.tld/realurl/path/?L=0 entries in menus etc.
In a multilanguage install you won't have this problem, as you'd map the language parameter to pathsegments in realurl config.

Prior to the mentioned bugfix this did not happen. I see why this fix was done, but still the proper way would imho be to be able to override this behaviour for single language installs. I don't see why the parameter would be needed in this case.
